Your Fine Design Kitchen has been crafted with quality materials designed for everyday use. With simple and consistent care, your surfaces can maintain their beauty and functionality for years to come.

General Maintenance

Everyday Cleaning

Most spills and marks can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth or an all-purpose spray cleaner such as Windex or Ajax Spray n Wipe. Gently rub the surface with a clean, dry cloth to restore brightness.

What to Avoid

To maintain the finish and durability of your surfaces, please avoid the following:

  • Waxes and Polishes – These can dull the natural shine.
  • Harsh Cleaners – Strongly acidic, alkaline, or bleach-based products may etch or damage the surface.
  • Abrasives and Scourers – These will scratch and damage the surface.
  • Heat and Sharp Objects – Do not place hot pots, appliances, or dishes directly on the surface. Always use heat-resistant mats. Never cut directly on the laminate surface—always use a chopping board.

Common Issues & How to Manage Them

Streaks on Dark Colours

Streaky residue may occasionally appear on dark laminate surfaces after cleaning. These can be removed using an all-purpose spray cleaner like Windex or Ajax Spray n Wipe.

Spills

Laminex surfaces resist most stains, but immediate action is recommended for the following:

  • Beetroot, grape juice, berry juice.
  • Hair dye, artificial dyes.
  • First aid solutions, concentrated bleach.
  • Dishwasher detergents, oven cleaners.
  • Solvent-based pen ink or Super Glue.

For stubborn residues such as Super Glue, use acetone (nail polish remover) immediately.

Stains

For stains that don’t respond to standard cleaners:

  • Start with extra-strength Windex.
  • Try methylated spirits or a diluted bleach solution (1 part bleach to 8 parts water). Apply for no more than 3 minutes, rinse thoroughly, and dry.
  • As a last resort, gently rub with a non-abrasive crème cleanser or white toothpaste. Wash and dry afterwards.
  • Important: Bleach and abrasive cleaners may irreversibly damage the laminate finish. Use sparingly and only when absolutely necessary.

Scratches

Laminex surfaces are durable but can scratch with heavy use. Keep in mind:

  • Darker colours and high-gloss finishes show scratches more easily.
  • Always lift items rather than dragging them.
  • Avoid contact with sharp objects, utensils, and unglazed ceramics.
